Getting Naked
"Dustin Diaz":http://www.dustindiaz.com had the great idea to have an annual CSS Naked Day where participants remove their stylesheets, revealing the bare nakedness of the XHTML beneath. That's right—nothing but the content. So, on April 5th (which is much longer than 24 hours when you consider the entire world) many sites, including this one, will look a little strange. But hey, nothing to be embarrassed about right?
Why do this? The idea is to promote web standards. Web sites that are coded with web standards will still make sense when styling is removed. Sites that ignore best practices and do whatever they want won't, if any content even shows up. So why does that matter? Well, you wouldn't be asking that question if you suffered from blindness or another disability that limited the way you could interact with web sites. Or if you suffer from color blindness or low sight. Most web sites are created in a manner that prevents people with many kinds of disabilities or vision problems from being able to use them properly. That's one of the many reasons web standards exists.
So if you're viewing this site on or around April 5th and you're wondering what's going on, that's why. Come back tomorrow to see the content all gussied up again. :)
