Just in Time for SXSWi
What better way to celebrate the start of SXSW than to launch a new look and name for my blog? Well, some might say drinking lots and lots of beer, but I'm not a big fan of beer. And I did just complete (-'complete' in this context means "mostly complete... well partially complete really... okay I have a lot left to do, but it's cool to leave things as a beta version, right?") a switch to "TextPattern":http://www.textpattern.org from "WordPress":http://www.wordpress.org for my blog software. I made the change partly out of curiosity but mostly because I felt constrained by WordPress. That constraint may have been imagined, or it may be real, but either way I thought it was time to try another option. So far I've really enjoyed using it. After I've used it for a while I'll have to do a little write-up on how well it works for what I'm doing.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new look and name. I'm in Austin now, and already impressed at how huge SXSW is. Lots of film and music people here too which I had somehow completely forgotten about. There are over 1300 bands in Austin for SXSW and dozens of film screenings, including some world or regional premieres for films like "A Prairie Home Companion":http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420087/ and "Thank You For Smoking":http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427944/. It'd be fun to catch some of these, but my schedule's already pretty packed.
From Austin, Seacrest Lowe out!
