Rockinâ New Year
In order to properly celebrate the holiday season and the new year, I observed the traditional 44 days of blog silence as mandated by the Council of Lame Excuses. Good thing that's over! I discovered that it's quite difficult to start writing again after such a long absence, because I felt I had to come up with something great as a re-entry piece. I couldn't disappear for over a month and then, out of the blue, chip in with some passing note on, say, the Denver Broncos reaching the AFC Championship game by knocking out the Patriots, or Apple releasing its first two Intel-driven Macs. Or even the rumors of Disney swallowing up Pixar. No, that just wouldn't be right. So I sat. And sat.
You'll be happy (or not) to know I finally decided I didn't have to pen a stellar post. Nosiree. The normal junk would do just fine.
So here we are.
No, really.
Okay, I do have something of some significance to say in this the first post of the New Year. Along the lines of New Year's resolutions, I've been thinking about this site and blog for awhile and I've decided there are going to be some big changes coming up in the next several months. You may have noticed the rough theme is web development, but I go off-topic pretty regularly. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing — all webdev and no fun makes Blog a dull boy — but I think some more structure would help too.
So here are my site resolutions:
- Split blog into two: personal and professional
- Redesign
- Move from Categories to a tag-like system, whether that's done using WordPress's Categories system or not, I don't know yet
- Regular posting, every two to three days
-
Add a section like Dan Cederholm's QuickBits for highlighting things on the web that I don't have much to say about besides
check it out!
-
More jokes that make sense to no one but me
Thoughts? Sound like good changes?
In closing... That's some bad hat, Harry. (reference, anyone?)
